Objective

• you can plan, implement and evaluate the health and functional capacity of working-age adults and the elderly
• you can assess the risk factors related to the health, living conditions and life situation of the elderly and counsel the client to use the appropriate services
• you understand the structure of well-being at work and the role of occupational health care in promotion of well-being
• you can explain and obey the principles of good occupational health care practices
• you can evaluate the mutual effects between work, work communities and work environments and health of the client
• you can argue and give recommendations connected to work conditions and different personal health needs
• you can operate in multiprofessional work communities and networks
• you can follow the costs of health care and estimate the effectiveness of preventive work and early intervention
• you can counsel the client to use the appropriate services and ensure the continuity of the care

The contents of the working-age nursing and occupational health care
• What are the sections of well-being at work?
• What are the specific questions related to the well-being of an entrepreneur?
• What is the role of occupational health care in strengthening well-being at work?
• What is the essential legislation and the strategies related to health promotion of working-age people and the elderly?
• What is the content of the statutory occupational health care?
• What are the principles of the best practices in occupational health care?
• How do you evaluate work, working conditions and operational environment connected to health?
• How do you evaluate the ability to work and function?
• When are health examinations compulsory?
• What are the main work-related illnesses and occupational diseases?
• What is occupational health and safety and how is it organized?
• How do you observe and report personal work ergonomics?
• What are the essential questions when measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of care?
• How do you plan action and draw up a budget?
• How do you utilize the feedback of the customers, clients and client forums when planning services?

The contents of the elderly health care
• What is essential in health examinations and health promotion of the elderly?
• What are the special features of health guidance for the elderly (e.g. physical exercise, nutrition, sexuality, sleep, ageing and long-term illnesses)?
• How do you utilize welfare and health technology in health promotion of aging people and the elderly?
• How do you use the rehabilitation approach and method in public health nursing?
• How do you counsel the clients to get the appropriate social and health care services?

Evaluation

Students can

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen opetus:
Verkko-opetusta, joka sisältää luentoja, itsenäistä työskentelyä, pienryhmätyöskentelyä ja oppimistehtäviä.
Opintojakso jakautuu kolmeen osaan:
Työterveyshuolto 2,5 op
Työergonomia ja ikääntyneen ergonomia 1,5 op
Ikääntyneen terveydenhoitajatyö 1 op

Työelämään integroitu väylä: ei käytössä tässä toteutuksessa

Assessment methods and criteria

Opintojakson hyväksytty suoritus edellyttää oppistehtävien ja tentin suorittamista hyväksytysti. Oppimistehtävistä osa arvioidaan asteikolla hyväksytty - hylätty ja osa numeraalisesti. Tentti arvioidaan numeraalisesti.
