Development project (5 cr)

Objective

• you can choose an appropriate subject of development
• you know how to plan, implement, evaluate and report a development task from the field of health promotion
• you can cooperate with public, private and the third sector
• you can participate in the development of services and products in cooperation with experts and service users
• you can develop the quality of public health nursing using evidence-based practices
• you can report your work both in writing and orally

Content

• How do you plan, implement and evaluate a small health promotion project?
• Implementation individually or in pairs

Evaluation

Students can
b. search for information in the key information sources of the field.
c. identify interrelated tasks.
e. use the key methods of public health nursing.
g. justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Course material

The updated material, based on scientific research, connected with the development project.

Study forms and methods

Scheduled track:
The course will be implemented as the seminars. The objectives and content of the course will be presented in the first seminar (given in the timetable) for which reason the participation in that is obligatory.

Independent track:
Not in the use in this implementation.

Blended track:
Not in the use in this implementation. Individual progress with the timetable is possible

Student workload

Development project 5 cr = 135 hours, consist of:
- beginning and acceptance of the student's topic, 2 hours
- independent work, implementation, writing the report and participation in the supervising of the teacher, 127 hours
- the presentation of your own development project and participation in five other presentation seminar 6 hours.

Course part description

Opintojakso toteutetaan seminaari tapaamisina. Kaikki opintojaksoa suorittavat osallistuvat ensimmäiseen työjärjestyksessä ilmoitettavaan seminaariin, missä käydään läpi opintojakson tavoitteet ja sisältö.

Assessment methods and criteria

The accepted report of the development project and participation in the beginning and presentation seminars are required for the accepted fulfilment of the course. In the evaluation of the development work will be concentrate to
- its beneficial in the public health nursing
- familiarizing with the topic
- quality and diversity of the references
- gaining the objectives
- planning, collaboration, use of the recourses, risk management, evaluation plan
- use of the supervising.
The student has to ask assessment from the partner that will use the product.
In the written report evaluation will be concentrate to lay out, fluency, readability, fluency, consistency, clearness and the expertise of public health nursing in the conclusions and the recommendations for the practice.

Research and development in nursing 5 ECTS credits
Bachelor’s thesis 15 ECTS credits started
