Objective

1. You are able to design air conditioning systems, ie. air-handling unit with its different parts, ductwork and air terminals as well as to determine the performance characteristics of the fan.
2. You manage the main principles of air distribution and calculation of air jets.
3. You know the factors affecting the efficiency of ventilation.
4. You use consistently the terminology of HVAC acoustics.
5. You know sound sources, sound propagation and sound attenuation steps in air conditioning systems and manage with the acoustical dimensioning of air conditioning systems.

Content

How are different parts of the air handling unit designed and selected?
What type of duct sizing methods are used and how are pressure losses calculated?
What kind of air distribution methods are used and how do air jets of different temperature behave?
Which factors affect the effectiveness of ventilation?
How is the sound power level generated in a fan and duct system determined?
How is sound generated, propagated and attenuated in different parts of air conditioning systems?

Evaluation

Based on the graduation-level know-how and skills students can
a) use professional vocabulary systematically.
c) understand interrelated tasks.
e) use the key models and techniques of the professional field.

Evaluation scale

1-5
