Objective
During on-board training sessions a student familiarizes besides to the operation and control of main and auxiliary machinery also to the electric and automation systems and equipment. The student gets used to required electric work safety procedures and measurement, fault-finding, service and repair methods. A part of the training and specific tasks in the training record book has to be accomplished onboard a ship that has electric mains over 1 kV to ensure that the high voltage work procedures, safe earthing and other safety issues regarding high voltage occupational safety are comprehensively carried out.

Supervised on-board training in competences specified in STCW A-III/6 documented in a training record book.
Evaluation
Assessment is based on approved training documentation.
