Objective

Patient safety

You understand the meaning of the patient safety culture in the nursing environment.
You are familiar with the key information relating to patient and customer safety.
You can promote patient safety and prevent danger events at all nursing stages.
You know immediately how to act in a danger situation.

Ergonomics

You know the legislation applicable to nursing ergonomy and can act accordingly.
You are capable to act in a customer friendly way.
You know the principles of nursing promoting rehabilitation and can act accordingly.
You are able to take into account the safety and risks of the environment when transferring and assisting patients.
You can report and record the assistance situation of a patient considering his/her ability to function.

Data management in health care

You are able to comply with the privacy protection and safety demands of social services and health care.
You are able to obey the netiquette, the rules and procedures of e-mails, and you are able to use social media, online services and the health care electric information services securely.

Evidence-based nursing

You understand the meaning of evidence-based work in nursing and decision-making.
You are able to use health care databases and read scientific publications.
You are able to use the information technology of health care, the electronic databases and reporting tools.
You are able to apply the evidence-based knowledge in nursing.

Documentation

You are able to plan the assessment of the need of treatment, the diagnosing of the nursing, the planning of the nursing, interventions and evaluation of results.
You are able to do and evaluate patient data documentation.
You are able to use structure of the nursing record form Finnish care classification or Finnish care nursing diagnosis (SHTaL), Finnish care planning (SHToL) and Finnish care nursing outcome evaluation (SHTuL).

Patient safety

What are the elements of the patient safety culture in an organization?
What does patient safety legislation consist of?
What do the different sectors of patient safety include; safety of equipment, safety of nursing, safety of medication?
How are the danger situations prevented in nursing?
How is patient safety guaranteed by effective teamwork, systematic work and by intervening in risk situations?

Ergonomics

What does the nursing ergonomics legislation consist of and how do you act accordingly?
How do you examine the patient’s ability to function and resources when assisting him/her?
How do you choose safe assistance methods and tools according to the patient’s ability to function? What are the principles of nursing promoting rehabilitation and how do you act accordingly?
How do you take into account the safety and risks of the environment when transferring or assisting a patient?
How do you report and record the assisting situation of a patient taking his/her ability to function into account?

Data management in health care

What acts and decrees are privacy protection and information security of health care based on?
How are privacy protection and information security carried out in different environments of customer/patient care?
What are the contents of the secrecy obligation? How do you know the contents of netiquette, the rules concerning emails, and safe use of social media, network services and the electric information services of the public health service from a professional viewpoint?

DATA MANAGEMENT IN HEALTH CARE: You will have the ability to consider and carry out nursing work from privacy protection and safety perspective.
DOCUMENTATION: You will have the ability to do and evaluate patient data documentation and use structure of the nursing record form Finnish Care Classification.
EVIDENCE BASED NURSING: You will learn to use Scientific databases and be familiar with evidence-based operations in nursing.
