Objective

The student understands the basic physical theories which serve as the foundation for the technical applications typical of the field of study.
The student becomes capable of applying their knowledge of physics in their professional studies and work.

Electricity:
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in
- basic electrical and magnetic phenomena
- generation of electric and magnetic fields and circuits
- use of electric and magnetic fields in the operation of machinery and equipment

Content

Physics
- fluid mechanics
- temperature and thermal expansion
- humidity of air
- thermal energy
- heat transfer
- the basics on mechanical vibration and waves
- acoustics

The basics of electrical engineering
- generation of electric and magnetic fields
- circuits and electrical components
- electrical and magnetic properties of materials
- electromagnetic induction

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary systematically
- look for information in the key information sources of the field
- identify interrelated tasks
- use the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field

In addition, the following competence evaluation criteria according to STCW code table A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- operation of equipment and system is in accordance with operating manuals
- performance levels are in accordance with technical specifications
