Practical training at maternity clinic (8 cr)

Objective

You can implement health-promotion work at a maternity clinic.
You are able to take account of the different environmental factors promoting and threatening health.
You participate in the development of services and products in cooperation with experts and service users.
You are able to manage your own activities and know how to prioritize your tasks and responsibilities.
You work according to the work community practices.

Content

How do you find out and help your customer identify their own resources in maintaining health and self-care?
How do you strengthen your customers ability to make decisions?
How do your recognize and support clients, families and communities in need of special support and at risk of exclusion?
How are you able to interact professionally with people of different ages and cultures? How do you plan, implement and evaluate the follow-up and support of families expecting a child regarding their health, wellbeing and resources in cooperation with them?
How do you counsel a family expecting a child to prevent and treat infectious diseases?
How do you use multidisciplinary evidence-based information in your work?
How do you make use of digitalism in nursing?
How do you apply ethical principles in your field in different situations?
How do you act responsibly in the work community and in promoting activities in the work environment?

Study forms and methods

Harjoittelu tehdään äitiysneuvolassa (4 viikkoa) ja äitiysvastaanotolla (1 viikko). Harjoittelun voi tehdä kokonaan myös äitiysneuvolassa, jolloin harjoitteluviikkoja on viisi.

Opinnot ovat työelämäharjoittelua.

Timing of exams and assignments

International cooperation

Opiskelijalla on mahdollisuus suorittaa harjoittelu ulkomailla.

Student workload

Harjoittelun työmäärä on 200 tuntia eli viisi viikkoa, josta tehdään 190 tuntia (38 tuntia/viikko) harjoitteluyksikössä/harjoitteluyksiköissä.
