Objective

After the course you are able to:
- calculate the power of heat exchangers in a power plant and the efficiency of a boiler
- calculate the reactions of combustion and emissions
- explain the characteristics of the various boiler types and operating principles
- explain boiler use and operation.

Content

How is the power plant boiler efficiency calculated and how are the boiler heat exchangers designed? What are the chemical reactions of combustion and what emissions do they form? What is the meaning of boiler operation and real-time condition monitoring? What are the most common boiler types? What is meant by boiler preservation, pickling and magnetite film run?

You are able to
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts proficiently.
b. manage appropriate methods of information search.
c. carry out interrelated tasks fluently.

Opintojakson lähitunteja voi seurata Teamsin kautta, mutta kurssilla paljon termodynamiikan laskuja,joissa lähitunneilla läsnäollessa voi helpommin kysyä itselleen epäselviä asioita.

Arvioinnin perusteena on palautettavat tehtävät, välikoe ja lopuksi Learn-tentti. Lisäksi huomioin arvioinnissa tuntiaktiivisuuden ja osaamisen kehittymisen sekä asioiden osaamista ja kiinnostusta asioihin osoittavan lähitunti-/ verkko-osallistumisen.

Requires basic knowledge of technical thermodynamics, mathematics and physics (solving equations, basic units, units)
