Objective

Health promotion
You understand the starting premises and stages of health and well-being promotion.
You identify the factors that protect and strengthen the health of the individual and the community.
You know the global threats and challenges to health.
You understand the possibilities wellness technology presents for promoting health.
You understand the significance of health inequalities between population groups.
You understand the ethical principles of health promotion.

Nutrition
You are able to implement Finnish nutrition and treatment recommendations for different age and target groups in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases.
You know how to consider sustainable development and ethics in nutritional care and guidance.
You can assess the nutritional status of a client / patient and refer the client / patient at risk of malnutrition to an expert.

Support for guidance and self-care
You know how to plan, implement and evaluate customer-oriented evidence-based individual and group guidance.
You are able to appropriately apply a variety of control procedures, including digital control.
You know how to plan and implement guidance that supports self-care on pedagogical and ethical grounds.
You know how to assess and document the outcomes of the given guidance with the client / patient, relatives and health services.

You understand the ways in which social assistance and health care are organized in Finland, how services are produced and realized, and how they are managed and monitored.
You understand the importance of social wellness as part of the overall care of the client / patient.
You understand the roles of different operational and service units as part of the care and service chain.

Teaching methods

Health promotion: the Learn material is the basis of self-study. Course consists of individual online tasks and the content of tasks is applied in practice in groups.

Exam schedules

Health promotion: assignments must be completed as per instructions. The group work will be assessed on a scale of 0–5.
Nutrition: assignments must be returned by the deadline date. The task alone is evaluated on a scale of approved-completed-rejected. The group assignment is evaluated on a scale of 0-5.
