Research and development skills (5 cr)

Objective

Common learning outcomes (as implemented in degree programmes) 2 ECTS credits:

You know the general stages in a research and development process.
You are able to search for information in the key information environments of your own field.
You are able to read, critically evaluate and utilize the literature and research publications of your own field.
You are familiar with and able to apply the principles of research ethics and reliability.
You are able to compose a literature review based on the materials published in your field of study and your own bachelor’s thesis following the principles of scientific communication.

What are the phases into which a research and development process can be divided?
How do you find, read and critically evaluate the research data of your own field?
How do you write a literature review that utilizes reliable research data and is linked to your own field and bachelor’s thesis following the principles of ethical scientific communication?

Course material

Opiskelumateriaali julkaistaan Learn-ympäristössä opintojakson alkaessa.

Study forms and methods

• Opintojakso toteutetaan pääasiassa aikaan sitomattomana verkko-opetuksena, mutta se sisältää myös muutaman aikaan sidotun etäopetuskerran. Osallistuminen etäopetuskerroille on vapaaehtoista. Opettajan ohjausta on saatavilla etäopetuskertojen yhteydessä.
• Opiskelu tapahtuu Learn-ympäristössä. Pääsy opintojaksoalustalle aukeaa opintojakson alkamispäivänä.
• Opiskelua rytmittävät itsenäisesti tehtävät oppimistehtävät ja verkkotentit.
• Arvioitavat tehtävät tehdään itsenäisesti.Tehtävät on palautettava annetussa aikataulussa.
• Opintojaksolla hyödynnetään erilaisia palautteenantotapoja. Lisäksi voidaan hyödyntää myös vertaispalautteenantoa.
• Opintojakso koostuu kahdesta osa-alueesta, jotka arvioidaan erikseen: Tutkimuksellinen kehittäminen ja opinnäytetyö 3 op ja Tiedonhankinta ja raportointi 2 op

RDI and work-related cooperation

Opintojaksolla valmistaudutaan opinnäytetyöhön, joka toteutetaan työelämän toimeksiannosta. Opinnäytetyön suunnittelun voi käynnistää jo opintojakson aikana, mikäli aihe ja toimeksianto ovat selvillä.

Timing of exams and assignments

Opintojakso päättyy toteutuksen tiedoissa ilmoitettuna aikana, johon mennessä kaikki oppimistehtävät, tentit, sekä muut opintojakson suorittamiseen liittyvät tehtävät on oltava tehtyinä.

Student workload

• 1 op vastaa noin 27 tuntia opiskelijan työtä. Työmäärä kuitenkin riippuu opiskelutaidoista ja aiemmasta osaamisesta.
• 5 op:n opintojaksolla opiskelijan työmäärä on n. 135 t

Osiosta Tutkimuksellinen kehittäminen ja opinnäytetyö 3 op vastaa Marjo Puikkonen ja osiosta Tiedonhankinta ja raportointi 2 op Ulla Korvenpää

Assessment methods and criteria

Arviointi tehdään suhteessa opintojakson osaamistavoitteisiin ja arviointikriteereihin. Opintojakson suoritukseen kuuluu kaikkien oppimistehtävien hyväksytty suoritus.

Opintojakson arviointiasteikko: hyväksytty/hylätty.
