Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- ship’s propulsion and steering systems and operation in different sea conditions
- ship’s control systems and operating principles
- ship’s hull and behavior
- ship’s bridge and equipment integration
- ship’s anchoring and mooring systems

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary systematically
- evaluate information sources critically
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-II/2 column 4 are used:
- information obtained from navigation equipment and systems is correctly interpreted and analyzed, taking into account the limitations of the equipment and prevailing circumstances and conditions
- plant, auxiliary machinery and equipment is operated in accordance with technical specifications and within safe operating limits at all times
