Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- types of emergencies that may occur: collision, fire, foundering
- types of life-saving appliances normally carried on ships
- equipment in survival craft
- location of personal life-saving appliances
- principles of personal survival

Content

- donning of lifejacket and immersion suit
- jump safely from a height into the water
- right an inverted lifecraft while wearing a lifejacket
- swim while wearing a lifejacket
- keep afloat without a lifejacket
- board a survival craft from the ship and water while wearing a lifejacket
- take actions on board a survival craft to enhance survival
- stream a sea-anchor
- operate equipment on board a survival craft
- operate devices to determine location and operate radio equipment
- practical drills in a swimming pool, in open water and at survival station
