Objective
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- the basics of operating and maintaining electrical systems
- safety requirements and measures for condition monitoring and maintenance of electrical equipment
- detect, locate defects and prevent further damage
- reading, interpreting and updating electric diagrams
Content
- electrical safety requirements for repairs, modifications and additional work
- practical knowledge for the testing, maintenance, fault finding and repair
- implementation of electrical equipment
- restoration of electric plant, electric systems and equipment after fault remedy procedures
Evaluation
Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field
In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- isolation, dismantling and re-assembly of plant and equipment are in accordance with manufacturer’s safety guidelines and shipboard instructions, legislative and safety specifications. Action taken leads to the restoration of control and safety systems by the method most suitable and appropriate to the prevailing circumstances and conditions
