Laboratory course in communications networks (1 cr)

Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- systematically and safely performing connections and measurements in different areas of information technology in a laboratory environment
- reporting and analysing measurements

Content

- data transmission technology
- digital data transfer
- wireless communication systems
- radio network planning

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- computer networks and computers are correctly checked and handled
- selection and use of hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing equipment are appropriate and interpretation of results is accurate

Actively attending to laboratory days and exercises during them. Also preparing state of the art reports from the exercises.
