Objective

Part I:
You understand the structure of material beginning from the atom level.
You understanding the information given by the periodic system of elements and the chemical bonding.
You understanding the chemistry of states and the gas laws.
You can draw up a reaction equation, understand stoikiometry and can apply knowledge to acid-base and to combustion reactions.
You understand the mechanism of the redox-reactions and galvanic series and can apply your knowledge to the corrosion reactions of metals.

Part II:
You understand the chemical safety and warning signs.
You understand the chemistry of construction engineering, including reactions of the concrete.

Content

Part I:
Structure of material, periodic system of elements, chemical bonding, states of matter, gas laws, reaction equations, balance and rate of the reaction, combustion reactions, electrochemistry, pH.


Part II:
Chemical safety and warning signs, the chemistry of construction engineering.

Evaluation

Students can
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts proficiently
b. manage appropriate methods of information search
c. carry out interrelated tasks fluently
d. justify their actions in customer, user and target group situations
e. show skills in managing team work participating in dicussions and tasks flexibly and positively
f. apply the ethical principles of the professional field according to the situation.
