Objective

You are able to actively use the basic professional vocabulary of your field.
You are able to look for information in English in professional sources and apply it in different study and work related communication situations.
You are able to communicate in English orally and in writing in various situations in your professional field.

Content

What professional vocabulary is essentially necessary?
How to look for information in professional sources in English and how to apply this information?
How to interact in spoken communication situations in English and how to draw up texts in English for professional purposes?
How to communicate in study-related situations and work communities in English?

Evaluation

Students are able to
a) use professional vocabulary systematically.
b) look for information in the key information sources of the field.
c) identify interrelated tasks.
d) communicate orally and in writing in the workplace, with customers, target groups and the users of applications and services provided in the field.

In addition to these, the assessment of English studies relies on the competence levels defined in the Common European Framework of Reference and the national skills level descriptions based on the European framework.

Material is developed by the teacher and the students on Learn platform.

Study forms and methods

Online studies, schedule-free at the implementation time (weekly assignments).

RDI and work-related cooperation

The course aims to improve students' vocabulary, grammar and communication skills with reference to the needs of the world of work. The students gather specific professional vocabulary by active learning through course activities.

Online exam on the Learn platform.

Student workload

5 credits that are awarded upon completion of the course are equal to 135 hours of studying.

Assessment methods and criteria

Compulsory tasks on the course platform, video presentation/or presentation in Teams, writing a summary, Video CV and an online exam on the course platform.

Qualifications

If you have been instructed to participate in the Intensive course of English, you must complete it or independently acquire the equivalent knowledge and skills before you can participate in this course.
