Objective

After you have completed the course you
- know how to identify the most common natural textile fibers
- have expanded your knowledge of organic materials and identification of wood species
- know how to prepare wood samples for microscopy
- know how to use stereo and light microscopes in material research
- know the basics of microscopic photography and can produce documentation material from samples
- know how to apply knowledge from your earlier chemistry courses in your project and bachelor's thesis.

Content

- What are natural fibers?
- How to identify natural fibers in the laboratory with reference samples?
- What is fiber analysis?
- How to identify wood species and analyze reference wood samples?
