Objective
You show familiarity with the basics of thermodynamics, circulation processes and energy balance calculations. You manage basic technologies of renewable energy production.
Content
What are the basics of thermodynamics?
How to analyse circulation processes?
How to make energy flow calculations?
What are the main renewable energy sources?
Opiskelumateriaali
Literature in the energy sector and online materials found on the sector's website.
Educational material to be distributed on the Learn platform.
Yksilölliset oppimisväylät
Lessons and exercises performed during lessons as contact teaching.
Electronic/written intermediate tests done in lessons and partly independently.
It is also possible to complete the course with an exam or by applying for recognition of competence by presenting a substitute course credit.
TKI ja työelämäyhteistyö
Business visit if possible
Tentit ja muut määräajat
The course uses electronic/written scored intermediate tests.
Presentation of the practice work done as group work on the chosen topic at the agreed time.
Kansainvälinen yhteistyö
The course does not include international collaboration.
Opiskelijan työmäärä
1 ECTS corresponds to 27,5 hours of student working time.
However, the amount of work depends on the study methods and from previous competence.

Further information
Theory lessons are held as contact teaching.
Exercise tasks are partly guided and partly carried out independently.
Evaluation scale
1-5
Assessment methods and criteria
The evaluation is based on the total score of the electronic/written interim tests and the group exercise. For each electronic/written intermediate test as well as for the practice task performed as group work, it is required to achieve the minimum score for the approved completion of the course.
Qualifications
Basic engineering physics and chemistry
