Social work with disabled people (5 cr)

Objective

After this course you have skills:
to understand what disability means to individual, family and society.
to use networked orientation when supporting disabled peoples’ wellbeing, ability to function and integration in the Finnish society.
to know the main laws and other norms regulating the work among people with disabilities.

Content

How can disability be defined as a historic and cultural concept?
How do you support disabled client and his family at different life stages?
How is the work with disabled people regulated by law and other norms?
How is the rehabilitation of disabled people supported and promoted?
How are the rights of disabled recognised and promoted in the Finnish society and service system?

Evaluation

Students can
use professional vocabulary systematically.
look for information in the key information sources of the field.
work together with clients, users and target groups.
use the key methods of the professional field.
justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä: Luentoja ja tuntitehtäviä, pienryhmäohjausta kehitysvammaisten päivätoiminnassa (ei kirjallisia etätehtäviä), pienryhmätentti.

Opintoja nopeuttava oppimisväylä:
Jos toteutuksella tilaa, mahdollisuus muistakin ryhmistä tulla mukaan toteutukselle. Itsenäinen suoritustapa sisältää Exam-tentin ja etätehtävän.

Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä:
Ohjaustehtävän työelämässä voi korvata omaan työhön integroidulla kirjallisella tehtävällä jos työskentelee vammaisalalla.

RDI and work-related cooperation

Asiakkaiden ohjausta kehitysvammaisten päivätoiminnassa yhdessä opiskelutovereiden kanssa (pidetään pieniä "työpajoja", joissa asiakkaat kiertävät päivän aikana).

Ilmoitetaan opintojaksokuvauksessa. Pienryhmätentin uusinta yksilötenttinä Learnissa.

Opiskelijan työmäärä 5 opintopistettä eli 135 h kaikissa toteutusvaihtoehdoissa.

Koko opintojakso arvioidaan asteikolla 0-5 Xamkin arviointikehikon mukaisesti.

a. Osaat käyttää johdonmukaisesti ammattikäsitteitä.
b. Osaat etsiä tietoa alan keskeisistä tiedonlähteistä.
d. Osaat toimia asiakkaiden kanssa.
