Objective
- You understand buildings as the sum of their parts.
- You are able to differentiate between non load-bearing structures and supporting structures and you know the difference between them.
- You know typical building structures and understand in which parts of the building they are used.
- You know the most common building materials and you know their context of use.
- You know when special design is needed and its potential.
Content
- What kind of different constructional elements are there in a building and what are their roles?
- How do I know which parts of the building will bear and what can be removed without compromising the building?
- What type of different structures exist and how are they used?
- How do I take into account different construction materials and their appropriate context of use?
- How to take into account HVAC technology (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) in planning?
