Objective

You revise the basics and key structures of Swedish that are most relevant in the communication situations of working life and different professions. You can use different tools for learning Swedish and improve your skills in studying languages.

Content

What are the key structures of Swedish that you need in your work?
How do you respond in typical communication situations?
What kind of tools can you use in studying Swedish?
How do you develop your language learning skills?

Materials

Study material in Learn. The students are encouraged to look for books or online sources for extra material.

Teaching methods

Scheduled lessons in class on Kotka campus. Note: this class is given in Finnish.

If you wish to study independently online, please choose an online option in stead of this course.

Employer connections

Students are encouraged to incorporate their field-specific vocabulary into the course assignments, although this course is about refreshing the basic grammatical structures.

Exam schedules

The course assignments must be handed in according to the schedule. In order to pass the course the student must take and pass the final online exam at the end of the course.

Student workload

3 study credits equals 80 hours of studying.

Further information

The course must be completed within the given time frame. Should the student miss the deadlines, the course can be retaken during the next possible term.

Assessment methods and criteria

To pass the course all independent learning assignments and final exam must be passed (evaluation grading pass / fail).

Qualifications

If your result in the entrance level test of Swedish resulted in a recommendation to attend the course of Intensive course of Swedish, you must complete the course or acquire equivalent skills independently.
