You understand innovation management in business.
You have skills for developing business using innovations.
You can identify different modes of innovations like product innovation, service innovation and business concept innovation.
You are capable to specify the critical success drivers and assess the changes driving forces and possible barriers for renewing.
You understand the opportunities of favorable innovation culture as a part of organization culture.
You can apply new information as part of decision making and developing business

What are the basic elements in developing business and organizations?
How to conduct successful innovation management?
How to search for innovations and drivers of success in your operational environment?
How to make innovative and creative decisions?

Evaluation

Students can find, study, produce and evaluate critically multidisciplinary data in their field of expertise.
Students can solve demanding problems in research, development and innovation.
Students can be responsible for operations and develop them independently.
Students can evaluate different strategic approaches and justify their use in terms of management and development.

Work week-based learning pathway: You participate in contact and online teaching as scheduled.

This course does not include RDI and work-related cooperation.

Timing of exams and assignments

The assignments and exams to be assessed are agreed in the introductory lecture of the course.
All assignments must be completed before taking the exam.
The course exam is taken before the end of the course.
It is permitted to take re-examinations in accordance with the degree regulations, if other tasks to be assessed for the course have been completed by the deadline.

Student workload

The average student workload is 135 hours.

Course part description

Innovation Management(J.Paananen): Half of the course focuses specifically on innovation management. The importance of innovation as part of global economic growth and thus its importance for the development of a company. The importance of successful innovation management for the emergence of a favorable innovation culture and the dependencies and specific features of development of different product or service innovations.

Assessment methods and criteria

Course assessment is based on the assessment of learning tasks and an exam. The weight of the assignments and exam points in the overall grade is agreed at the beginning of the course.
