Objective

- You are able to understand the different possibilities digital garment making provides for both, digital and live productions
- You learn to utilize the software in costume design development
- You are able to make patterns and sew garments by using Marvelous Designer software

Content

Kurssilla opitaan digitaalisen puvun valmistus Marvelous Designer ohjelmistolla sekä opitaan hyödyntämään ohjelmistoa digitaalisen ja fyysisen puvun suunnittelussa ja valmistuksessa.
- Miten käytät ohjelmiston kaavoitus ja ompelu työkaluja
- Kuinka pukujen kankaat, värit ja kuosit valitaan ja vaihdetaan
- Opittujen toimintojen luova käyttö pukusuunnittelussa
- Pukukokonaisuuden valmistus perustuen valmiiseen hahmoanalyysiin
- Osaat tehdä ohjelmistolla kävelyanimaation vaatteen testausta varten

The course provides skills to use Marvelous Designer software in game character’s costume design development and technical execution.
- How to use pattern and sewing tools
- How to change fabrics, colours and prints
- How to use the aforementioned skills in creative costume design
- You make costume ensembles based on character analysis
- You are able to make a walking animation with the software to test the garment

The course requires participation in campus lectures. Study is planned through course lectures and independent study.

No RDI project. Examples from worklife are explained continuously during the course.

Tentit ja muut määräajat

No exam, but large porject where students create digital garments individually and as pairs and present the outcomes during last lecture.

5cr = 135h which includes contact teaching 52h and independent study 83h.

Toteutuksen osien kuvaus

The course consists theoretical lectures and practical excercises with Marvelous Desinger software. The main aim is to learn how to create garments digitally by using Marvelous Designer software and what it means to work in a digital environment.
The course language is English. Guidance in Finnish is available.
