Objective

The student knows the most important chemical and physical properties of the materials to be transported by sea, spontaneous reactions of chemicals, prevention of aforementioned reactions, and hazardous elements of materials to human health, vessels and environment.
The student can take the dangerous nature of materials into consideration in the loading planning, knows the legislation and codes related to the transportation of dangerous goods, separation regulations and documentation, and declaration procedures.

- state of matter
- thermal expansion, density, reduction-oxidation reactions
- acids and bases
- salts as bulk cargo
- legislation related to the transport and cargo planning of dangerous materials, IMDG, IMSBC, IBC and BCH codes where applicable

Kurssi voidaan suorittaa joko työviikkopohjaisesti osallistumalla luennoille tai itsenäisesti opiskellen. Molemmilla tavoilla opiskellessa kurssi suoritetaan tenttimällä.
