Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- planning, execution and coordination of maritime search and rescue operation
- ability to apply the procedures of the IAMSAR

Content

- IAMSAR manual
- roles of SAR coordination
- On Scene Coordinator
- planning of SAR operation
- exution and parameters of SAR operation
- communication

Evaluation

Students can
- evaluate information sources critically
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- promote teams’ goal-oriented operation

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-II/2 column 4 are used:
- the plan for coordinating search and rescue operations is in accordance with international guidelines and standards
- radiocommunications are established and correct communication procedures are followed at all stages of the search and rescue operations

Scheduled track: You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. Lectures, learning tasks and training tasks.

Independent track: n/a

Blended track: Discussion with the teacher and, where appropriate, PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.

The course might includes control hours that can potentially be used for work life projects or visits.
