Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- organisation structures and management
- leadership in ship organization
- basics of shipping industry ability be as a part of organization
- areas of organizational management
- strategic management, operative management, economical management and risks

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary systematically
- evaluate information sources critically
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code tables A-II/1 and A-II/2 columns 4 are used:
- operations are planned and resources are allocated as needed in correct priority to perform necessary tasks
- communication is clearly and unambiguously given and received
- effective leadership behaviours are demonstrated
- necessary team member(s) share accurate understanding of current and predicted vessel state and operational status and external environment
- decisions are most effective for the situation
