Objective

Students
- understand the importance of bridge team work in piloting
- become familiar with piloting procedures and archipelago navigation in practice
- have ability to conduct passage plans for piloting passages and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan

Content

- lectures and project study. including onboard observation
- pilotage legislation and pilot as a member of bridge team
- planning a pilotage voyage taking into consideration the resources of the bridge and ship and the importance of effective team work
- project reporting to a cooperating shipping company

RDI and work-related cooperation

The course possibly includes excursion implemented as a RDI and work-related cooperation, which familiarizes with fairway piloting.

Course part description

During the lectures, the student is introduced to the basics of piloting and the principles of ship steering, as well as bridge work in narrow coastal lanes.
During the possible excursion, the students familiarize themselves with the ship's practices and steering, as well as line piloting.
