Objective
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- basics of ship handling in different external conditions (weather, sea, current)
- basics of ship handling in different internal conditions (draught, trim, freeboard)
- basic methods of anchoring and mooring
Content
- ships’ turning circles
- stopping the vessel
- effect of wind and current on manoeuvring
- MOB operations
- shallow water effect
- basics of anchoring and mooring
Evaluation
Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- identify interrelated tasks
- use the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field
- work as team members in a goal-oriented way
In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-II/1 column 4 are used:
- safe operating limits of ship propulsion, steering and power systems are not exceeded in normal manoeuvres
- adjustments made to the ship’s course and speed to maintain safety of navigation
