Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- the basic principles and basic components of electricity generation, transmission and distribution, as well as the utilization of electric energy
- structure, components and characteristics of the electric distribution network

Content

- structure of electricity production and consumption
- principles and basic components of electrical networks
- basic features of transformers and most common electric machines, basic structure and components of electric motor operation
- operating principles of the electricity market

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- electrical distribution systems can be understood and explained with drawings/instructions
