Objective
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- galley an hotel service equipment on-board
- requirements set for electric and electronic equipment in flammable areas
- safe maintenance and repair procedures
- detection of machinery malfunction and faults, actions to prevent further damage
Content
- industrial galley equipment
- laundry machinery and equipment
- safety systems of hotel equipment
- control and automation of AC machinery
Evaluation
Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- the effect of malfunctions on associated plant and systems is accurately identified, ship’s technical drawings are correctly interpreted, measuring and calibrate instruments are correctly used and actions taken are justified
- isolation, dismantling and re-assembly of plant and equipment are in accordance with manufacturer’s safety guidelines and shipboard instructions, legislative and safety specifications
- actions taken leads to the restoration of deck machinery and cargo-handling equipment by the method most suitable and appropriate to the prevailing circumstances and conditions
- operation of equipment and system is in accordance with operating manuals
- performance levels are in accordance with technical specifications
