Objective

Nursing in mental health care
You can apply knowledge on common mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses to nursing.
You master the common nursing methods and medication in treating mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses.
You can carry out the medication of mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses.
You are capable to communicate professionally and with the nursing viewpoint with customers/patients of different ages and backgrounds and their families.
You are capable to apply evidence-based knowledge to mental health care, substance abuse care and acute crisis care.

Substance abuse care
You master the common methods in substance abuse care.

Nursing in acute crisis care
You are capable to support a person in an acute crisis.
You recognize sorrow and the stages of sorrow.

Nursing in substance abuse care
What knowledge is required about alcohol, substitute alcohol, multiaddiction and drugs?
What are the methods of substance abuse care and early intervention?
What does mini-intervention include and how does it proceed?
How are substance abuse prevention and the treatment of damages, health risks and problems carried out?

How is acute crisis defined and what stages does it include?

Study takes place in contact teaching and with a group. This learning pathway includes lectures, exercises, and online studies. Some of the studies are not tied to time and place. Final exam.

Seminars and/ or written assignments must be returned by the deadline. Information in Learn and the student must attend the beginning classes of the course.

1 credit is 27 hours of student work. 5 credits x 27 hours = 135 hours.
However, the amount of work depends on the study methods and previous knowledge.

Preclinical training 8h it happens at school and is mandatory.

Assessment methods and criteria

Active participation in teaching. Passed exam (1-5) and accepted written assignments.

In addition to theoretical studies, participation in Preclinical Training Day.
