Objective

You can apply evidence based knowledge in acute and intensive care nursing.
You can apply your skills in the key nursing methods of acute and intensive care nursing.
You know how to act in accordance with the principles that promote rehabilitation.
You can systematically assess the need and urgency of a patient's care.
You can act in acute care situations and emergencies.
You know how to plan, implement and evaluate a patient's medication.
You can apply the basics of IV-fluid therapy in the care of an acute patient.
You can apply your knowledge about injuries when threating an injured person.
You can apply ethical principles in acute and intensive care.
You can begin the immediate rescue operations independently and can carry out measures in crises and catastrophe situations.

Yksilölliset oppimisväylät

The course includes
- 3 credits of joint implementation between all campuses. Includes both time-bound webinars (voluntary participation) and independent study through materials and learning tasks provided/assigned on the learning platform. The learning platform will include lecture materials and recordings.
- 3 credits in campus, including preclinical training (compulsory participation)

Possible expert lectures or working life visits.
Examples from working life will be used in exercises and simulations.

On the course learning platform Learn, there is a learning task(s) for each section, which must be successfully completed before the end of the course.

The course exam will be taken in Exam before the end of the course.

You can raise the approved grade once (the better performance will be recorded in the final assessment). You can renew a failed grade twice during the year.

1 credit corresponds to about 27 hours of student work.
However, the amount of work depends on the study methods and
previous knowledge.

The course includes 3 credits of theory as a collaborative teaching and 3 credits of campus-based exercises, such as case studies and simulations:
- Theory
- Pre-clinical training

The student must confirm the fulfilment of the prerequisites at the beginning of the course on the LEARN platform. If it is discovered that the student has declared that he/she has completed the pre-requisites incorrectly, this will constitute a student error and the course may be withdrawn.

To pass the course, students must complete the learning tasks on the learning platform with an approved grade and actively participate in the preclinical exercises (grade-promoting effect).
