Objective
You know the principles of environmental sampling and learn about representative factors when sampling air. You know what biological samples are and how to collect them. You know how to use sampling tools used for different purposes and how the collected samples have to be handled. You are able to work in field conditions. You know the importance of occupational safety and recognize the health risks. You know the different norms and guidelines. You also understand the importance of quality assurance and documentation in sampling.
Content
What kinds of observations are made during sampling?
What are the norms that guide biological and air sampling?
What is taken into account in the sampling design?
How to ensure the quality of sampling?
What information needs to be documented?
What kind of instruments are used in air and biological sampling?
How are samples handled between sampling and analysis?
What does the occupational safety and health of sampling involve?
How to act in sampling sites?
Opiskelumateriaali
The sampling devices and equipments related to air sampling will be provided and a workshop on the same will be conducted, more materials are provided via Learn platform of the course.
Yksilölliset oppimisväylät
The course is conducted in the form of contact teaching with Scheduled Track. The students need to participate in the classroom activities where air sampling topics are discussed, sampled and analysed together in a seminar-based setting in accordance with the schedule.
There are no possibilities for distance learning.
TKI ja työelämäyhteistyö
Interaction and discussion with intergovernmental air quality forum specialists related with United Nations.
Tentit ja muut määräajat
There will be mandatory research assignments in form of group works with deadlines ranging between two to three weeks from the start date which is the date of seminar for the specific topic. There will be no exams.
