Objective

You demonstrate your understanding of different parts of micro and macroeconomics. You are able to explain the role of economics in a company’s business operations. You are able to explain the influences of economic policy on different sectors of society.

Content

What does an economy consist of? What is the theory of enterprise from the economics viewpoint? How do economic policies affect the various sectors of society?

Course material

- Book: Lindholm and Kettunen: Globaali kansantalous, Edita.
- Other material distributed by the teacher and presented on the course pages in Learn.

Study forms and methods

As a rule, when you register for this course, you participate in teaching and guidance in accordance with the rules of procedure. Your studies will be paced according to group meetings in accordance with the rules of procedure, independent learning assignments and preparation for exams. Passing the course does not require participation in teaching.

Teaching and guidance consists of the course's face-to-face meetings and online remote meetings, as well as various material attached to the course's Learn pages.

The language of implementation and instruction/teaching of the course is Finnish.

RDI and work-related cooperation

The course includes topics related to working life and productivity development. The course does not include special supervised research, development and innovation cooperation and working life cooperation. Guest lectures possible.

Timing of exams and assignments

The deadlines for exams, learning assignments and other assignments are announced on the course pages in Learn.

The dates of the online meetings and teaching will be announced on the course website in Learn.

International cooperation

The course includes a section on international economics. The course does not include supervised international cooperation.

Student workload

133 hours. Includes lectures, assignments, (possible group work), examination literature and other materials.

Successful completion of the course is largely based on the student's own active study and work.

Assessment methods and criteria

The total score of points obtained for exams, short refresher assignments and learning assignments determines the grade achieved. Total score maximum 100 points.
