Objective
You understand the importance of colour and composition as part of visual literacy.
You are able to apply your skills in design and visual communication tasks.
You are able to utilize the associations produced by colour and the adaptability of colour.
You know the subtractive, additive and optical mixing way of colour.
You understand the mechanisms of colour.
You understand the importance of the history of colour and the culture-specific nature of colour.
You know the basic elements of composition (point, line, surface, volume) and understand the concepts of composition such as balance, rhythm and emphasis.
You are able to interpret and justify visual information in different environments.

What are the elements of colour and composition?
How do we talk about colour and composition professionally?
How can composition and colours affect visual appearance?
How are colour and composition applied in design?
Evaluation
Students can

Study forms and methods
Scheduled track:
Teaching which is in accordance with the working order and control ( 5 cr).
Teaching is carried out entirely as contact teaching on the Kouvola campus according to the schedule. Remote participation is not possible. In principle, contact teaching is not recorded, and it is not replaced by distance lectures when contact teaching is given according to the curriculum. Part of the teaching takes place in a laboratory/simulation environment. Presence in simulation exercises/oral exercises/working life visits is necessary to complete the course.
Independent track:
Demonstration/recognition of prior learning.
Blended track:
Credit transfer or partial credit transfer.
