Objective
You can observe the principles of ethical writing and referencing.
You can use language tools to improve your text in an efficient and ethical way.
You can analyze the text style and recognize different components of a report, chapter, paragraph, and sentence.
You can write a fluent, grammatically correct, and clearly structured thesis displaying good academic style, typical for your field and your research approach.
Content
What are the principles of ethical writing and how are they followed?
How can language tools, such as proofreading tools and AI tools, be used efficiently and ethically?
How to cite sources and draft a list of references following your own university’s style guide?
How to compose different chapters (e.g. theoretical section, methods, results, etc.) of the thesis?
How to compose different kinds of paragraphs?
How to improve the flow and cohesion of the text?
How do you write text with a good academic style?
Evaluation
The student can
- communicate proficiently and systematically in their master’s thesis in English.

All materials are provided by the Learn site.
Study forms and methods
It is possible to enroll in the course thru Peppi during the official enrollment periods. After that, it is possible to enroll in the course by contacting teacher on the following dates:
27 January - 30 April 2025
14 May - 6 June 2025
18 Aug - 1 October 2025
All course assignments need to be completed by 14 December 2025, therefore it is not possible to enroll and start the course after 1 October 2025.
The course has no synchronous online classes.
Each student can proceed at their own pace.
Teacher can be approached thru a chat forum or by making an individual appointment in Zoom/Teams.
All the obligatory course assignments need to be submitted with a passing grade to pass the course.

The course needs to be started by 1 October, i.e. the first assignments must be submitted by that date.
All course assignments need to be completed by 14 December 2025
