Professional Swedish for nursing (3 cr)

Objective

You can actively use the basic vocabulary of your own field in Swedish.

You can act in Swedish in different communication situations in your field at the European skill level B1.

You can search for information in Swedish-language sources and apply it in study and work-related situations.

Content

What essential professional vocabulary do you need?
How do you search for information in sources of your field and apply it?
How do you act in Swedish in spoken communication situations and compose texts needed in your field?
How do you communicate in Swedish in the study community and in the workplace?

Evaluation

Students can
a. use the key vocabulary of the field in a consistent way
b. search for information in relevant sources in the field
c. identify interrelated tasks
d. act in a working community with clients, interest groups and applications of the field as well as users of services both in speaking and writing.

The goal level is B1 in the European Framework and competence that corresponds to government decree 1129/2014.


After the completion of the course with grade 3 you can
- understand clear everyday speech and spoken communication in the workplace
- use basic grammatical structures fairly flawlessly in speaking and writing
- speak fairly fluently in such a way that infrequent errors in pronunciation or rhythm of speech do not cause misunderstandings
- understand main points of professional texts and react to them both in speaking and writing
- describe the main facts of your education and work experience e.g. in a job search situation and discuss key topics in your field (e.g. company and organization operations, products, processes, services)

Hoitoalan koulutukseen, työympäristöön ja työtehtäviin liittyvä materiaali oppimisalustalla.

Study forms and methods

The course is mainly carried out by way of unscheduled online study but it also has 4-5 scheduled online tutorial lessons (voluntary).

Hoitoalan työelämätilanteisiin liittyviä harjoituksia ja sanastoa.

Timing of exams and assignments

The end date of the course is presented in the course details. By this date, the student must submit all assignments, take the required exams and meet all other conditions set for an approved course completion.

Assessment methods and criteria

Opiskelija osaa käyttää johdonmukaisesti alansa keskeistä sanastoa, etsiä tietoa alan keskeisistä tiedonlähteistä ja toimia työyhteisössä, asiakkaiden, kohderyhmien ja oman alansa sovellusten ja palveluiden käyttäjien kanssa sekä suullisissa että kirjallisissa viestintätilanteissa.

Tutkintotodistukseen merkitään julkisyhteisöjen henkilöstöltä vaadittavasta kielitaidosta annetun lain (424/2003, 6 § 1 mom.) mukaista kaksikielisessä viranomaisessa valtion henkilöstöltä vaadittavaa toisen kotimaisen kielen taitoa osoittavat arvosanat erikseen suullisen ja kirjallisen taidon osalta. Tutkintotodistuksen arvosana tyydyttävä vastaa arviointia 1-3 ja arvosana hyvä vastaa arviointia 4-5

Qualifications

Basic skills at level A2, which means that the student can act in Swedish in simple everyday communication situations.
