Objective

You learn:
- to generate ideas and to plan and produce different kinds of events, e.g. as a tool for marketing
- to develop your team work skills

Content

- What kind of research should be your focus when creating ideas and the associated plans for a special event?
- How should the project be organized, how will it be developing?
- How do you act as a member of a team?
- How are the different actors be engaged in your project?
- What specific requirements will be expected of you in terms of planning a fashion show, costumes for a performance, exhibition, festive reception or a commercial exhibition/fair?

Yksilölliset oppimisväylät

During the course, students plan and implement an event of their choice. The event can be, for example, a fashion show, exhibition or participation in an event in the clothing industry.

The course is implemented as group work.
In the event organising project, students have their own area of ​​responsibility.

The individual learning pathway should be discussed with the teachers prior the course.

The event is carried out with external partners (e.g. photographer, video shooting, make-up/hair, etc.) according to the selected concept.

Tentit ja muut määräajat

No exam.
The course consists of event planning (e.g. exhibition/screening) and its implementation at the agreed time. The final event may take place outside the course schedule.

Kansainvälinen yhteistyö

The course may include the possibility for international cooperation, depending on the selected event concept.

Opiskelijan työmäärä

The student is expected to work actively for the event. Workload is 5 credits, including both the planning and the implementation phase.

Toteutuksen osien kuvaus

The course consists of event planning, implementation, reporting and necessary post-event tasks.
Students can have different tasks and areas of responsibility in the course.

Assessment methods and criteria

The purpose of the course is to familiarise the student with how to operate as part of a project. Managing one's own work and adapting it to the work of the rest of the group provides the student with the ability to function in professional life. The student is required to work actively and take responsibility for their own work and to support the project group. In addition, attention is paid to professional communication and working with various collaborators.

The evaluation is based on the success of the organised event. Each student is also graded on their work effort, cooperation and activity in the project.

The activity refers to among other things:
- taking part of the contact teaching days
- receiving tutelage
- ability to work independently towards a goal
- ability for independent information searching
