Objective

You understand the basic principles of 2D animation.
You know the process of conceptualizing and creating 2D animations.
You develop skills in character animation and motion graphics.
You learn how to use various tools and software for creating 2D animations.
You can create animation sequences for your own game projects.

Content

What is animation and what are the 12 principles of animation?
What are different animation techniques and styles?
How to animate objects and characters?
What are cycles and how do you animate walking, running and jumping cycles?
How to utilise different motion graphic techniques in animation (keyframes, tracking and motion paths, camera techniques and effects)?
What tools and software are used for creating 2D animations, and how do you use them effectively?
What is the difference between skeletal and sprite animation?

Study forms and methods

You will attend classes according to a weekly schedule at the Kouvola campus.
Your active participation in these scheduled lessons is mandatory. Remote participation is not possible. Generally, scheduled contact lessons are neither recorded nor duplicated as online lectures.
You will progress by attending scheduled lessons and completing tasks and assignments individually or in groups.
You must complete the given assignments and practical exercises.

RDI and work-related cooperation

RD&i cooperation will be integrated if possible.

Exams and Deadlines
Deadlines:

dedicated feedback sessions,

Further information

Students complete assignments independently with the help of instructions and video tutorials. In class, a student will receive feedback and deepen their expertise.
