Objective

You know the basics of level design and theories behind level design.
You have developed your skills in providing players with a goal and enjoyable game experience.

Content

What is the purpose of level design?
What is the role of a level designer?
How has the level design evolved?
What are the differences between external and internal design goals?
What are the design elements that a level design consist of?
What is the pipeline of level design?
How to create and design levels, gameplay alteration, player direction and environmental conditions?

Lectures, videos, links and tutorials on Learn.

Study forms and methods

You will attend classes according to the given schedule. In addition to class exercises, there will be independently assigned homework tasks.

If you have a comparable previous academic achievement (i.e., a higher education-level course completion), have studied for a year in, for example, a folk high school, and have work samples to present, or if you have skills equivalent to or exceeding the course level, for example, through work experience and have a portfolio to show, you may seek to have the course accredited. However, you must first discuss this with the course instructor.

RDI and work-related cooperation

RD&i cooperation will be integrated if possible.

Further information

Students complete assignments independently with the help of instructions and video tutorials. In class, a student will receive feedback and deepen their expertise.
