Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- providing medical assistance to an ill or injured person on board
- medical examination and recording of findings
- leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of onboard health and medical care
- maintaining the ship's dispensary and prescribing and dispensing medicines safely
- managing the techniques of drug treatment
- consulting medical doctors for instructions and acting in accordance with the instructions, Radiomedical
- principles of aseptic work
- preventing additional accidents and mitigating risks

- compliance with regulations concerning the ship's dispensary

- command of available treatment methods in accordance with the 2015 Act on Ships' Medical Stores, independently or as per medical doctor's instructions via Radiomedical

Yksilölliset oppimisväylät

Study takes place in contact teaching and with a group. This learning pathway includes lectures, exercises, and online studies. Some of the studies are not tied to time and place. Final exam.

Healthcare 1 and 2 approved performance is a prerequisite for participation.

Learning pathway that speeds up studies:
The student will contact teachers if the student wishes to include, replace, use the AHOT procedure, or study this course.

TKI ja työelämäyhteistyö

The course includes working life co-operatio (voluntary selection) and the student can then go to see the patient work in emergency care for 1-3 shifts in an ambulance, if only such an internship can be found for the student.

Tentit ja muut määräajat

We agreed on the dates of the exams at the beginning of the course in the next few hours. The student can take the exam in the Exam when the next lessons and exercises have been successfully completed.

Opiskelijan työmäärä

2 credits is 54 hours of student work including exam preparation.

1 credit is 27 hours of student work. However, the amount of work depends on the study methods and previous knowledge.

Assessment methods and criteria

Participation in exercises and contact teaching 100%, individual examination are prerequisites for completing the course and obtaining a certificate.

Qualifications

- Elementary first aid (A-VI/1-3)
- Medical care and first aid 2 (A-VI/4-1)

Participation in all lessons and training sessions is obligatory.
