Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- maintaining seaworthiness of the ship
- basics of hydrostatics
- calculate stability and trim with different cargo situations
- effect of free surface liquids to ships stability

Yksilölliset oppimisväylät

Scheduled track:
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. Teaching in class: Ship stability and buoyancy basics. The calculations in class and practical training in the computer class (the NAPA program of getting acquainted).

Independent track:
Degree of Deck Officer, operational level (STCW A-II/1) OR Degree of Engineer Officer, operational level (STCW A-III/1) OR Certificate of Competency: Deck Officer / Engineer Officer IS REQUIRED.

Blended track:
Discussion with the teacher and, where appropriate, PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.

There are no ECTS points for RDI.
Outside experts: Very experienced, with more than 40 year practice, Shipbuilding Engineer Jan Babicz will make three lectures in Teams as a complaint about the stability of the ship, construction and stability requirements of the ship.

During the course, students will return the midterm exams, and training with calculations.

Opiskelijan työmäärä

The course is 2.5 e.p., it is about 52.5 hours. Most of the time we work in the auditorium, it will take 15 x 3 =45 hours to solve the theory and tasks, 3 hours for NAPA Loading computer familiarization and training, the remaining hours are for the self learning.

Completion of the course requires 100% attendance and intermediate exams execution.
