Objective
You use logically numbers, explore and model dependences, apply basic general principles of computing and carry out mathematically valid reasoning. You use appropriate mathematical tools and communicate mathematically with others.
Content
How to use sets and numbers?
How to explore and model dependences?
What kind of basic mathematical tools exist and how to use them?
How to communicate mathematically?
How all this helps you to solve basic problems of environmental engineering?
Evaluation
Students can
a) handle basic mathematical concepts and communicate with others using them.
c) identify types of mathematical problems.
e) use basic mathematical models, methods and tools.
Course material
Teacher-provided handouts.
Electronic material in Moodle.
Adams. Calculus. A complete course. ISBN 0-201-50944-X
Timing of exams and assignments
The failed exam can be resit twice. All exam dates mentioned in the timetable of XAMK Engineering Department for Fall term 2019-2020 are available. When preparing for a resit, contact the teacher well in advance so as to allow ample time for checking the retest content area.
Student workload
2x2 lessons per week
