Ethical principles (5 cr)

Objective

You recognize the place of gerontology in the multiprofessional environment of elderly care and are aware of the importance of multidisciplinary gerontological knowledge.

You are familiar with the history of elderly care and are able to assess the factors that have influenced the development of elderly care.

You recognize the ethical issues and rules of elderly care to promote good and participatory aging.

You can act in a manner that respects the elderly, based on the ethical values of elderly care.

You are trained to actively follow your professional field both nationally and internationally.

You will deepen your understanding of the course of life and its different stages while developing your own ethical thinking.

How to act ethically?

How to resolve conflicts relating to ethical principles?

Evaluation

Assessment criteria level 3: entry-level know-how and skills
Students can
a. use professional vocabulary systematically.
b. look for information in the key information sources of the field.
c. use the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field.
g. justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Osallistut työjärjestyksen mukaiseen opetukseen ja ohjaukseen. Opiskelusi rytmittyvät
työjärjestyksen mukaisten ryhmätapaamisten ja itsenäisesti tehtävien oppimistehtävien
mukaan. Sisältää ennakkotehtävän.

Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä:
Mikäli sinulla on suoritettuna vastaavan laajuiset ja sisältöiset opinnot yliopistossa tai korkeakoulussa.

Yksi opintopiste on 27 tuntia opiskelijan työtä

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Tehtävien arviointi perustuu teoria-aineksen hallintaan ja kykyyn soveltaa eettisiä teorioita erilaisiin vanhustyöhön liittyviin yhteiskunnallisiin sekä elämäntilanteellisiin kysymyksiin.
