You understand the normal growth and development of children.
You can apply your knowledge of the most common diseases of children and young people to nursing.
You can take into account and support the family as part of nursing children and young people.
You know the special features of children and young people and can apply this knowledge to nursing.
You can apply your knowledge about anatomy and physiology, applied pharmacology and medication to nursing children and young people.
You are familiar with the most common developmental and intellectual disabilities.
You can apply your knowledge on the key developmental and intellectual disabilities to nursing people with these disabilities.
You can apply evidence-based information to nursing children and young people.
You know children’s and youngsters cancers and the principals of their treatment and their palliative care.

How do you acknowledge and support the families in nursing children and young people?

How do you care for a healthy and sick child or young person?
How do you carry out safe medication and fluid therapy of children and young people?
What are the most common development and intellectual disabilities and the methods used in treating people with disabilities?
How do you support the functional ability of a person with a developmental or intellectual disability?
How do you apply evidence-based information to nursing children and young people?
What are most common cancers among children and youngsters and the principals of their nursing care and palliative care?

Evaluation

Students can:
• use the professional concepts of nursing children, young people and mentally disabled people consistently.
• search for and use up-to-date and reliable information in nursing children, young people and mentally disabled people.
• use the key functions in nursing children, young people and mentally disabled people.
