Objective

Data management in health care
You are able to comply with the privacy protection and safety demands of social services and health care.
You are able to obey the netiquette, the rules and procedures of e-mails, and you are able to use social media, online services and the health care electric information services securely.

Evidence-based nursing
You understand the meaning of evidence-based work in nursing and decision-making.
You are able to use health care databases and read scientific publications.
You are able to use the information technology of health care, the electronic databases and reporting tools.

Documentation
You are able to plan the assessment of the need of treatment, the diagnosing of the nursing, the planning of the nursing, interventions and evaluation of results.
You are able to do and evaluate patient data docu-mentation.
You are able to use structure of the nursing record form Finnish care classification or Finnish care nursing diagnosis (SHTaL), Finnish care planning (SHToL) and Finnish care nursing outcome evaluation (SHTuL).

What acts and decrees are privacy protection and information security of health care based on?
How are privacy protection and information security carried out in different environments of customer/patient care?
What are the contents of the secrecy obligation?
What steps does the process of managing health and welfare information produced by the customer include, from gathering information to its distribution and utilization?
How do you know the contents of netiquette, the rules concerning emails, and safe use of social media, network services and the electric information services of the public health service from a professional viewpoint?
Evidence-based nursing
What is the nurse's role in evidence-based nursing?
How do you implement and evaluate evidence-based practises and decision making?
How do you identify and evaluate critically different working methods?
How do you utilise clinical guidelines and uniform practices in clinical nursing?
How do you manage the information retrieval from the most general databases of health sciences, and can critically read and estimate scientific publications?
How do you estimate the significance of the level of evidence in clinical decision-making?

Documentation
How do you design the nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, interventions and evaluation of the results?
How do you record the planning, realisation and evaluation of the nursing process in a customer-oriented way?
How do you evaluate and utilize patient data documentation?
How do you use the nursing record of Finnish care classification or Finnish care nursing diagnosis (SHTaL), Finnish care planning (SHToL) and Finnish care nursing outcome evaluation (SHTuL)?
What are the customer and patient information systems, patient records and the enterprise resource planning systems like in different nursing environments?

Evaluation

Students can:
• use professional vocabulary of data management systematically.
• look for information of data management in health care in the key information sources.
• use information technology, electronic database and reporting tools in health care.
• justify their actions according to the data management principles.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Opintojaksoon sisältyy verkko-opintoja, luento, ryhmätyöskentelyä ja itsenäistä opiskelua.

Opintoja nopeuttava oppimisväylä:
Voit hakea osaamisen tunnistamista ja tunnustamista opintojakson vastaavilla korkeakouluopinnoilla joko kokonaan tai osittain. Osittaisessa osaamisen tunnistamisessa ja tunnustamisessa suoritat ne osa-alueet, joita ei ole hyväksytty. Suorituksista sovitaan opintojakson vastuuopettajan kanssa. Voit osoittaa osaamistasi aiemmin hankitulla korkeakouluopinnoilla tai työkokemuksella, mikäli ne vastaavat opintojakson tavoitteita. Jos haet osittaista osaamisen tunnustamista (1-4 op), lähetä vapaamuotoinen osaamisen kuvaus ja todistukset sähköpostilla opintojakson vastuuopettajalle kuukautta ennen opintojakson alkua. Koko opintojakson osaamisen tunnistaminen (5 op) haetaan E-opintotoimiston kautta.

Työhön integroitua oppimisväylää ei ole.

Timing of exams and assignments

Opintojakso suoritetaan opintojakson toteutusajankohdan ja opintojakson infossa ilmoitettujen määräaikojen mukaisesti. Hoitotyön kirjaaminen (2 op) osio suoritetaan verkkotenttinä.

International cooperation

Opintojaksoon ei sisälly kansainvälistä yhteistyötä.

Student workload

Opiskelijan työmäärä on 135 tuntia, joka jakaantuu verkko-opintoihin, itsenäiseen opiskeluun ja lähiopiskeluun.

Osallistuminen opintojakson info-tilaisuuteen on erittäin suotavaa.
Opintojaksoon kuuluu yksi seminaaripäivä, johon osallistuminen on pakollista.

Assessment methods and criteria

Opiskelija osaa:
• käyttää johdonmukaisesti tiedonhallintaan liittyviä käsitteitä
• etsiä tietoa keskeisistä tiedonlähteistä terveydenhuollon tiedonhallintaa liittyen
• käyttää terveydenhuollon informaatioteknologiaa, sähköisiä tietokantoja ja raportointityökaluja
• perustella toimintaansa tiedonhallinnan periaatteiden mukaisesti

Opintojakson osioiden arviointi:
Tiedonhallinta terveydenhuollossa (hyväksytty - täydennettävä)
Hoitotyön kirjaaminen (1-5)
Näyttöön perustava toiminta (1-5)

Opintojaksosta tulee numeraalinen arvio.
