Objective
You know the structure and operational environments of Finnish and international transportation systems.
You know the different transportation forms and understand their significance as part of the supply chain.
You know the typical features, requirements and usage options of different transportation modes.
You are able to choose the best means of domestic and international transportation for a particular situation.
You are able to consider transportation as part of the domestic and international supply chain.
You understand the operational environments, concepts and methods of different transportation forms.
You understand the role of logistics in Russia and in the Russian business structure.
You are familiar with Russian ways and models of operation in the field of logistics.
You know the most important logistics operators in Finland and Russia and are able to work and communicate with a Russian colleague.

What is the role of domestic and international transportation in the supply chain?
What are the different modes of transportation and their typical objectives, features and roles in the supply chain?
What is the role of road transportation, railway transportation, water transportation, air transportation and pipe transportation in Finnish and international transportation of goods?
What are the objectives and operations of the EU concerning traffic policies?
What kinds of domestic and international parent organizations do the different transportation forms have?
What kinds of contracts are required for Finnish and international transportation forms?
What factors need to be considered when transporting goods in exchange for remuneration?
What is cabotage traffic?
Evaluation
The student is able to

Course material
Material in Moodle, other material will be informed in the beginning of the course.
Study forms and methods
Scheduled track:
The student proceeds according the time table.
Independent track:
The student can make the course assignment for his/her own employer if the company´s processess are equal to the assignments content
Blended track:
The student can take the course together with an older study group.
Student workload
The student´s work load is about 135 h in average.

Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment is based on Moodle exams, course assignment and presence in lectures.
Assessment criteria, fail (0)
The student does not get accectable grade for all parts of assessment.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student gets 50 - 69 % of the maximum grade.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student gets 70 - 89 % of the maximum grade.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student gets 90 - 100 % of the maximum grade.
Qualifications
Completion of the Basic of logistics, or equivalent knowledge, is required.
