Objective

You are able to assertively communicate in English in the professional context of logistics operations, also in unexpected situations, paying attention to the demands of the situation.
You are familiar with the essential English logistics terminology and capable of using your language skills in tasks that require logistics expertise in the demand-supply chain.

Content

What English concepts and terminology do you have to know in order to assertively communicate in situations related to demand-supply chains, e.g. modes of transportation, international transportation, warehouse operations and inventory management, packaging and sustainable development?
What documents related to forwarding and foreign trade do you have to able to process in English?
How do you improve your pronunciation?
How do you assertively communicate on the telephone concerning work-related matters?
How do you give a professional presentation in English on a topic related to a logistics process or application?
How do you write the abstract for your thesis?

Evaluation

The students are able to
a) use professional vocabulary systematically.
b) look for information in the key information sources of the field.
c) identify interrelated tasks.
d) communicate in the workplace, with customers, target groups and the users of applications and services provided in the field, orally and in writing.
In addition to these, the assessment of English studies relies on the competence levels defined in The Common European Frame of Reference and the national skill level descriptions that are based on the European framework.

Qualifications

Participation in this course requires that the student has previously completed the course Professional English (5 ECTS cr).
