Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- comply with emergency procedures
- take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment
- observe safe working practices
- contribute to effective communications on board ship
- contribute to effective human relationships on board ship
- understand and take necessary actions to control fatigue

Content

Content complies with IMO model course 1.21.

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary systematically
- look for information in the key information sources of the field
- identify interrelated tasks
- work as team members in a goal-oriented way
- justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-VI/1-4 column 4 are used:
- initial action on becoming aware of an emergency conforms to established emergency response procedures
- information given on raising alarm is prompt, accurate, complete and clear
- organizational procedures designed to safeguard the marine environment are observed at all times
- safe working practices are observed and appropriate safety and protective equipment is correctly used at all times
- communications are clear and effective at all times
- expected standards of work and behaviour are observed at all times
- fatigue management practices are observed and appropriate actions are used at all times

Study forms and methods

Scheduled track:
Attendance at teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. Attendance at lectures and completion of exercises.

Independent track:
Not possible.

Blended track:
Discussion with the teacher, and if necessary PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.

100 % attendance at lectures and approved completion of exercises.

Further information
