How do you identify the most important properties of wood and wood-based materials?
For what purposes and how will wood and wood-based materials be used in the future?
How do you design aesthetic and suitable objects while using material responsibly?

Study forms and methods

Xamk offers its students an opportunity to pursue studies flexibly to suit their various life situations. Students can choose between three learning routes: a learning route based on a working week, a learning route that accelerates the studies, and a work-based learning route.

Familiarization with the properties of wood through literature and lecture material, as well as through woodworking. The learning task is linked to a broader product conception task. A more detailed description of the task on the Learn platform.

Determining one's own forest relationship and getting to know Finnish object culture from the perspective of product conception. Awareness of forest diversity from a product design perspective.

The course includes costs because the preparation of learning assignments includes material costs. In addition, the course incurs travel expenses due to various visits.
